Upon graduating from the School of Television and Imaging at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design in Dundee, Scotland my experience within the camera department began as a camera trainee in 1999 for several years before spending a formative decade at each grade as a Film Loader, Focus Puller and Camera Operator. I've been fortunate to work on a huge variety of productions from Features, Drama, Specialist Factual, Commercial, Corporate and Music videos.
Between 2014-2017 I was fortunate to DP a Scottish/Chilean feature documentary 'Nae Pasaran' Directed by Felipe Bustos Sierra for Debasers Films which closed the 2018 Glasgow Film Festival and won the Feature Film category at the BAFTA Scotland Awards 2018. Following this I have enjoyed working on a number of Specialist Factual series as both a Cinematographer (Earths Sacred Wonders, Spectacular Earth, One Cup A thousand Stories) and Drone Operator (The Mountain within Me, Walking With Dinosaurs 2025, One Strange Rock, Earths Natural Wonders II).
Since early 2014, I have held an Operational Authorisation to operate Drones commercially and now operate under both the PDRA-01 OA and a more specialist Operational Safety Case OA that allows for operations in closer proximity to uninvolved persons down to 11m in built up environments.
The primary craft I use are x2 DJI Inspire 3 that carry the DJI X9 Air camera system (Full Frame 8K sensor, CinemaDNG RAW, ProresRAW, Prores422HQ). The Inspire 3 can be operated Solo or as a dual Pilot and Cam Op setup along with a follow focus unit for a 1st AC. I also operate a fleet of smaller FPV craft that carry the GoPro 12 for safely capturing a more distinct style of faster swooping shots or flying through tight and narrow spaces. (GEPRC Cinelog 35v2, Cinelog 25v2)
Recent Drone Operating credits include: 28 Years Later (Part 1&2) 2025, Outlander S2-8, Walking with Dinosaurs 2025, The Regime 2024, One Strange Rock. Earth’s Natural Wonders S2, Scotland from the Sky Series 1-3.
